Reintegration of Jail Prisoners into the Community - Overcrowding in Jails and Other Financial Considerations

The Minister of Law and Human Rights has issued RegulationNo. M. 01.PK.04-10 of 2007on Assimilation, Conditional Release, Pre- Release Parole, and Conditional Parole (Regulation) to provide a regulatory framework that is suitable to the reintegration of convicts into the broader community. The considerations underlying this Regulation also included the fact that Indonesian jails are becoming increasingly overcrowded and the significant financial strain involved in maintaining the current number of prisoners incarcerated in Indonesian jails.
