Presidential DecreeNo. 20 of 2006was issued on 11 November 2006 and establishes the National Information Technology and Communication Authority (Dewan TIK). The Decree recognizes the importance of information technology and communication to the transformation of Indonesia into a developed State that is prosperous and competitive. The establishment of the Dewan TIK replaces the Telematics Coordination Team that was established under Presidential DecreeNo. 9 of 2003(Decree 9/2003), which is deemed to be no longer appropriate to current needs in this sector and Decree 9/2003 is repealed.
