The long awaited Bill on Plantation (“Bill”) was recently passed by the House of Representatives (“House”) on 29 September 2014. The Bill aims to improve the current plantation legal framework stipulated under the Law No. 18 of 2004 on Plantation (“Plantation Law”), which is considered obsolete and therefore is unable to give a value-added to the national plantation sector.
