The Indonesian Government has made a number of revisions to various types of fishing activities which, among other goals, are being aimed at the establishment of sustainable fishing. These measures include the introduction of a measured fishing concept, as specifically addressed under the frameworks of Regulation of the Government No. 11 of 2023 (“ Regulation 11/2023 ”) and Regulation of the Minister of Marine and Fisheries Affairs (“ Minister ”) No. 28 of 2023 (“ Regulation 28/2023 ”). The placement of fishing equipment (alat penangkapan ikan– “ API ”) and supporting fishing equipment (alat bantu penangkapan ikan/ABPI) was previously addressed prior to the issuance of Regulation 11/2023 and Regulation 28/2023 by Regulation of the Minister No. 18 of 2021 (“ Regulation 18/2021 ”).
