Work Contract to be Amended

To address public demand that work contract (“kontrak karya”) with mining companies be amended, the government recently issued Presidential Decree No. 3 of 2012 on the Evaluation Team for Adjustments to Work Contract and Coal Mining Business Agreements (“Decree”). The Decree was issued to establish a team to evaluate and coordinate adjustments to work agreements and coal mining business agreements in accordance with Law No. 4 of 2009 on Minerals and Coal Mining (“Law No. 4”), in order to optimize national interests.
