The government is intensively preparing Draft Bill on Cybersecurity and Defense (“KKS Draft Bill”). Director of Cyber Security and Cryptography for Finance, Trade, and Tourism (Keamanan Siber dan Sandi Keuangan, Perdagangan, dan Pariwisata/KSS KPP) at the National Cyber and Cryptography Agency (“BSSN”), Edit Prima, revealed that one of the discussions revolves around the use and development of artificial intelligence (“AI”) in the financial sector and Vital Information Infrastructure.
“Currently, the drafting team has reached an agreement on AI regulations, particularly regarding its use in digital finance and the protection of critical information infrastructure,” Edit told Hukumonline.
The drafting of this regulation emphasizes the need for the lawful and responsible use of AI, not only to strengthen cybersecurity but also to prohibit its use for destructive purposes against Critical Information Infrastructure (Infrastruktur Informasi Kritikal - “IIK”). Furthermore, BSSN noted that there were 3.64 billion cyber-attacks or traffic anomalies in Indonesia from January to July 2025.
“The process has reached the harmonization stage; it is now awaiting public testing and discussion by the House of Representatives,” he concluded.
