Articles Amended in the Draft Bill on International Treaties

The government is discussing the Draft Bill on Amendment to Law No. 24 of 2000 (“ UU 24/2000 ”) on International Treaties (" RUU International Treaties "). This regulatory revision is a proposal from both the government and the parliament.

To Hukumonline, Director-General of Law and Regulations at the Ministry of Law, Dhahana Putra, stated that the target for completing the regulation is this year.

"It is targeted to be harmonized this year, as the alignment of the Academic Paper—serving as a supporting document in the request for harmonization of the draft bill—is still underway," said Dhahana.

Here are the key points of the amendments:

1. Chapter on General Provisions: The articles being amended are Article 1 and Article 2;

1. Chapter on the Making of International Treaties: The articles being amended are Article 5 and Article 7;

1. Chapter on the Ratification of International Treaties: The articles being amended are Article 9, Article 10, Article 11, Article 12, and Article 13;

1. Chapter on the Enforcement of International Treaties: The article being amended is Article 15;

1. Chapter on the Custody of International Treaties: The article being amended is Article 17.
