The Nuclear Energy Regulatory Agency (“BAPETEN”) has revealed the need to revise the Spatial and Regional Plan (“RTRW”) in preparation for the construction of a Nuclear Power Plant (“PLTN”).
“Regarding the need for a site or location for PLTN, changes to the RTRW are required,” said Haendra Subekti, Deputy for Nuclear Safety Assessment at BAPETEN.
Haendra explained that the revision of the RTRW will refer to the results of a technical study prepared by BAPETEN. The results of the study will then be submitted to the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (“ATR/BPN”) as the basis for revising the RTRW.
The process of drafting the RTRW will be conducted by the Regional Government (“Pemda”) in the location determined by the Task Force for the Acceleration of the Construction and Operation of Nuclear Power Plants. “The RTRW changes will be made by the Pemda,” he said.
Furthermore, Haendra confirmed that the drafting of the Regulation of the President on the formation of the Task Force for the Acceleration of the Development and Operation of Nuclear Power Plants is almost complete. The target is for the document to be signed by the President before the turn of the year.
