The Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (Kementerian Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional/Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional – “PPN/Bappenas”) is encouraging the adoption of green economy principles across all clusters of Micro-, Small-, and Medium-scale Enterprises (“MSMEs”) holding.
The Director for Cooperatives and Micro-, Small-, and Medium-scale at Bappenas, Mahatmi Parwitasari Saronto, emphasized that the green economy agenda must be prioritized in MSME development and should not be limited to specific clusters or pilot projects.
“The green economy agenda must be prioritized, so it is not merely for a single cluster, but also all clusters should be directed toward a green economy, if possible,” she stated.
Bappenas considers that the implementation of the green economy should not remain a limited initiative but rather become a national standard for the development of the MSME ecosystem. Given the role of MSMEs as a key driver of the economy, the integration of sustainability principles is viewed as essential to ensure that economic growth remains sustainable.
Through the development of the MSME holding model, such green economy interventions are expected to encourage MSMEs to become more independent, resilient, and oriented toward long-term sustainability.
