The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (Kementerian Energi dan Sumber Daya Mineral – “ESDM”) targets the utilization of wind energy by 2034 in the Electricity Supply Business Plan (Rencana Usaha Penyediaan Tenaga Listrik – “RUPTL”) of 7.19 GW. However, the investment rate for wind energy is still less attractive than other types of renewable energy.
Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (Energi Baru Terbarukan dan Konservasi Energi – “EBTKE”), Eniya Listiani Dewi admitted that there are a number of problems in the development of wind energy potential at this time which have an impact on the lack of investment interest. The feasibility study time which is carried out at the fastest in one year is the first reason for the lack of investment interest. In addition, complicated licensing issues, especially in infrastructure development, are another challenge faced in the utilization of wind energy.
““It turns out that there is a problem regarding the installation of towers, then permits are needed and so on,” said Eniya
Eniya stated that currently the Ministry of ESDM will take a number of steps to accelerate the utilization of wind energy and resolve a number of problems that have been obstacles so far.
