The National Agency of Drug and Food Control (“ BPOM ”) will shorten the transition period for the distribution permit for Natural Medicines (Obat Bahan Alam- “ OBA ”) to 12 months. This provision is set out in the Draft Regulation of BPOM on the Revision (“ Rancangan PerBPOM ”) to Regulation of BPOM No. 29 of 2023 on the Requirements and Quality Safety of Natural Medicines (“ PerBPOM 29/2023 ”).

“Previously, the transition period was 24 months, whereas the current provision sets it at 12 months,” said Dian Putri Anggraweni, Director of the Directorate of Natural Medicines, Health Supplements, and Cosmetics Standardization.

Apart from the shortened transition period, this regulatory revision introduces only minor changes; therefore, industry players are expected to adapt promptly. BPOM will continue to receive input from various stakeholders regarding the drafting of this regulation until 11 November 2025.
