Commission VII of the House of Representatives (“DPR”) will continue discussions on the draft law on the Third Amendment to Law No. 10 of 2009 (“UU 10/2009”) on Tourism (“Tourism Bill”) in the 2024-2029 DPR membership period. Member of Commission VII Bane Raja Manalu said that he had carried over the bill from Commission X of the DPR.
"So because of the new duties and functions, Commission VII is now responsible for ministries that have been separated, such as the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (UMKM)," Bane told Hukumonline.
According to him, in substance, Commission VII is re-compiling the problem inventory list (daftar inventaris masalah - “DIM”) from the discussion of the Tourism Bill which is included in the 2025 Priority National Legislation Program (Prolegnas).
One of them is changing the paradigm of mass tourism to quality tourism, maintaining values that live in society such as customs, cultural heritage, natural resources and others. So it is expected to provide direction for Indonesian tourism to move forward.
"Currently, only the Tourism Bill has been carried over. So we are trying to re-arrange the DIM that has been submitted by the government for discussion," said Bane, who is also a member of Baleg DPR.
