Draft Bill on Cyber Security and Resilience (“Draft Bill”) is currently in the harmonization stage. The entire substance of the Draft Bill is the focus of discussions with other stakeholders.
“Currently, we are still in the harmonization stage with ministries and institutions. All aspects are being discussed,” said Sigit Kurniawan, Director of Cyber Security and Cryptography Strategy at the National Cyber and Cryptography Agency (“BSSN”), to Hukumonline.
The points being discussed include administrative sanctions such as written warnings; temporary suspension of business activities; permanent suspension or freezing of business activities; and/or administrative fines. Criminal sanctions are also included in the draft.
Regarding the target for completing the harmonization process, Sigit is optimistic that it will be finalized by early August. “However, everything depends on the dynamics of the discussions,” he said.
