Member of Commission III of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Republik Indonesia–      “ DPR RI ”),      Muhammad Nasir Djamil stated that cybersecurity is one of the proposals in the discussion of Law No. 11 of 2008 on Electronic Information and Transactions      (Informasi dan Transaksi Elektronik–      “ ITE ”), which has been amended several times, most recently by      Law No. 1 of 2024 ( collectively referred to as      “ UU 11/2008 ”).

“The most likely is a revision of           UU      11/2008     . The law is expected to detail cyber crimes,” Mr. Nasir told Hukumonline.     .

He hopes that a Special Committee can be formed to discuss the changes to the regulation. The cyber aspect in the policy is expected to be aligned with criminal procedural law.

“In criminal procedural law, we can see whether cyber crimes can be included in the norm. In other words, the procedural law method for trying cyber cases,” said Mr. Nasir.
