The Directorate General of Legal Administrative Affairs (“Ditjen AHU”) of the Ministry of Law (“Kemenkum”) is in the final stages of drafting a Regulation of the Minister of Law on Citizenship Services. The proposed regulation is intended to introduce a new, digitally adaptive paradigm that emphasizes formal legal certainty while eliminating bureaucratic centralization.
“If possible, all forms, checklists, and documentary requirements will be consolidated into a single appendix to Regulation of the Minister of Law. This way, when members of the public use these forms, there should no longer be any questions about which documents are missing or what procedures must be followed,” said Widodo, Director General of Legal Administrative Affairs at the Ministry of Law.
In theory, this decentralization initiative will significantly streamline bureaucratic processes and bring greater access to justice for the public. At the same time, the drafting of Regulation of the Minister of Law is being carried out in parallel with the legislative deliberations on the Draft Law on Citizenship (“Draft Bill”).
