DJSN Pushes for New Regulations on Informal Worker Participation

The National Social Security Council encourages the government to expand the participation of informal workers.

"We encourage the participation of informal workers to be increased. So that the social protection system runs," said the Chairman of the National Social Security Council Nunung Nuryartono to Hukumonline.

The challenge faced in this plan is to create a new scheme for informal workers. "If they lose their jobs, what is the mechanism like. If (the regulator) is able to prepare this regulation, it can encourage the expansion of participation," he said.

The government can consider a scheme to ensure the consistency of premium payments by informal workers, one of which is through the Premium Assistance Recipient program.
