DPR becomes the initiator Rancangan Undang-Undang (“ RUU ”)on Amendments to Law No. 8 of 1981 concerning Criminal Procedure Code (Criminal Procedure Code – “ KUHAP ”). The regulatory changes are included in the priority draft laws for 2025.
"We have scheduled that in the next month we will invite Indonesian criminal law experts to ask for input, so that (the points of change) are in sync with the Criminal Code which will come into effect in January 2026," said member of Commission III of the House of Representatives Rudianto Lallo to Hukumonline.com.
After collecting the opinions, the parliament will include the articles or verses that are changed.
"Many things. For example, how to regulate the rights of a suspect, how to regulate restorative justice that has not been clearly regulated in procedural law," continued Rudianto. His party is targeting the law to be implemented this year.
