The House of Representatives (Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat - “DPR”) is advocating the role of PT. Pos Indonesia (“Pos Indonesia”) in the distribution of social assistance (Bantuan Sosial - “Bansos”) in the future to be legalized. One way to achieve this is by amending Regulation of the President No. 63 of 2017 on Distribution of Non-Cash Social Assistance (“Perpres 63/2017”).
In the regulation, the name of Pos Indonesia is not listed. In fact, in practice, Pos Indonesia has been involved in distributing social assistance.
"We recommend that PT Pos Indonesia be included. I support the amendment of this Regulation of the President, "said Rieke Diah Pitaloka, a member of Commission VI of the DPR.
In the current scheme for distributing social assistance under the Family Hope and Non-Cash Food Assistance Program or staple goods carried out by the Association of State-Owned Banks, beneficiaries may withdraw assistance via the Automated Teller Machine (ATM) or directly to the bank. However, if the assistance is not collected within a few days, then Pos Indonesia will distribute it.
