Draft Bill on Civil Procedural Law (“Draft Bill”) will reform the civil justice system. This regulation, currently being drafted by Commission III of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (“DPR RI”) is expected to simplify the convoluted litigation procedures.
“This is part of our responsibility moving forward,” said Ahmad Sahroni, Deputy Chair of Commission III of the DPR RI.
The new regulation is expected to eliminate existing procedural obstacles. These include expedited proceedings for cases involving debt, property damage, and personal injury arising from contracts, as well as contract rescission.
The regulation will also set a deadline for the delivery of copies of cassation rulings to the parties so that official information on the ruling’s verdict and reasoning can be obtained promptly.
“There are still many stakeholders we will invite. This is an open process, and we want as many parties as possible to be involved,” said Sahroni.
