The Legislation Body (Baleg) of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (“DPR RI”) is preparing Draft Bill on One Data Indonesia (“SDI”) to serve as the legal framework for artificial intelligence (“AI”) technology. This will establish a strong foundation for accountability
“Digital transformation, including the use of AI, also presents an opportunity to strengthen data analysis systems in policy formulation. However, the implementation of this technology still requires a strong legal foundation,” said Baleg DPR RI Member Firman Subagyo.
The SDI Bill will require every ministry and agency to open access to data. This is considered crucial for the operation of AI algorithms, which require integrated data. Additionally, this regulation ensures a balance between investor data and the protection of personal data.
“Development data must be open, because investors also review the data before entering Indonesia,” said Firman.
