The Government is set to finalize the Draft Regulation of the Government (“ RPP ”) on Disability Concessions, which is derived from Law No. 8 of 2016 on Persons with Disabilities (“ Law 8/2016 ”). This RPP regulates the provision of discounts on products or services for persons with disabilities, as well as non-fiscal appreciation incentives for companies that implement inclusivity measures.
“The RPP on concessions for persons with disabilities and incentives for companies was initiated by the Ministry of Finance and has already been submitted to the President for signature”, said the Chair of the National Disability Commission, Dante Rigmalia.
Rigmalia provided examples of concessions in the form of discounts for persons with disabilities, such as for the purchase of assistive devices like wheelchairs, as well as easier access to travel services. For business actors, the RPP also regulates the provision of incentives for private companies that are willing to employ persons with disabilities or offer service concessions. The types of incentives prepared include recognition, promotion, publicity, facilitation of licensing, and support for accessible workplace facilities.
