Draft Presidential Regulation on Digital Government to Prioritize Service Data Governance

The Government is currently preparing a Draft Presidential Regulation (“Draft Regulation”) on Digital Government. Dini Makhfira, Director of Development Data and Digital Government at the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional/Badan Perencanaan Pembangunan Nasional – “PPN/Bappenas”), stated that one of the key aspects to be regulated under the Draft Regulation is service data.

Dini explained that statistical data and spatial data have long been the primary focus of the One Data Indonesia initiative. Accordingly, the Draft Regulation will focus on service data to support the principles of interoperability and data exchange among government agencies.

"Once the Draft Regulation on Digital Government is issued, service data will become one of the priority data categories. This is precisely what ministries, government agencies, and regional governments have been waiting for," she said.

Dini further explained that service data under the Draft Regulation will encompass various types of government interactions, including government-to-citizen, government-to-government, government-to-business, and government-to-government employees services.

According to Dini, by incorporating service data into Indonesia's digital government framework, the Government expects to implement the "once only" principle, whereby members of the public and government institutions will no longer need to repeatedly submit the same data, as the systems will be fully integrated.
