The Ministry of Law is accelerating the preparation of implementing regulations of Law No. 20 of 2025 on Criminal Procedure Code (“KUHAP”). One of the regulations that has been completed is the Draft Presidential Regulation (“RPerpres”) on the Technology-Based Criminal Justice System.

“I have signed a Perpres related to the KUHAP. We have completed its drafting together, and it will next be enacted through the State Secretary,” said Supratman Andi Agtas, Minister of Law (Menkum), to Hukumonline.

The regulation mandates the use of body cameras by law enforcement officers to minimize abuse of authority and violence during investigation processes. The regulation also sets out technical procedures for electronic document exchange to accelerate case handling.

Currently, the government is still drafting two Government Regulations (RPP) as implementing regulation of the KUHAP, including mechanisms for restorative justice. “The remaining regulations are still in process,” Supratman added.
