The Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development is currently preparing a Draft Regulation of the Government (“RPP”) on the Organization of High-Speed Railways. Among other things, this regulation will govern the mechanism for imposing administrative sanctions in the implementation of high-speed rail projects.
"Administrative sanctions have been agreed upon. There will be a National Committee and a Task Force that will implement technical activities, including the imposition of sanctions," said Hermin Esti, Assistant Deputy for Land Connectivity and Railways, to Hukumonline.
The formulation of administrative sanctions is intended as a guideline for all parties involved in the organization of high-speed rail projects. The discussion of the RPP was conducted by identifying and reviewing issues comprehensively.
This RPP will also contain provisions on general provisions, facility organization, business licensing, safety standards, human resource development and science and technology, industrial development, and intermodal integration and transit-oriented development (TOD) areas. In parallel, the government is also formulating a Draft Regulation of the President (RaPerpres) on the National Committee for High-Speed Railways.
