The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (“ESDM”) is promoting the implementation of environmentally friendly buildings through the concept of zero energy buildings (“ZEB”).
According to Hendra Iswahyudi, Director of Energy Conservation at the Directorate-General of New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation (“Directorate-General”) the implementation of the zero-energy building concept is an important part of promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency in the residential sector.
Hendra explained that there are currently no specific regulations governing zero energy buildings. However, the implementation of this concept, according to Hendra, refers to the ISO 23764:2021 standard.
“This classification provides a strong foundation for us to begin linking it to our local context,” said Hendra.
The absence of clear standards and regulatory frameworks is one of the challenges faced. The Ministry of ESDM will prepare regulations that accommodate incentives and disincentives to support the implementation of zero-energy building policies in Indonesia.
“We are still assessing the possibility of incentive mechanisms,” he added.
