Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (“ ESDM ”) is preparing new regulation which regulate Solar Power Plants (Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Surya– “ PLTS ”), specifically for industrial use. The Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (Energi Baru, Terbarukan dan Konservasi Energi–“ EBTKE ”), Eniya Listiani Dewi, explained that this new regulation will facilitate industries that wish to use PLTS as a source of clean energy.
“We are currently discussing PLTS for the industrial sector,” Eniya told Hukumonline.
This regulation will govern the provisions for industrial PLTS, which have so far operated on a business-to-business basis, to better facilitate the development of green products. Regarding installation quotas, Eniya explained that the concept still ensures PT PLN (Persero)’s readiness in preparing transmission infrastructure.
The government is currently reviewing the potential to increase the quota, especially for the industrial sector.
“Later, it will be determined whether the quota will be increased. Because, in fact, the quota guarantees PLN’s readiness,” she explained.
Eniya assured that the discussion of this regulation will also cover provisions for a broader range of PLTS models, not limited to rooftop installations. Other models, such as ground-mounted and floating solar power plants, will be regulated to meet market demand for green energy.
