The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (“ESDM”) has confirmed that the drafting process for a Regulation of the Government (“Regulation”) derived from Law No. 2 of 2025 on the Fourth Amendment (“Fourth Amendment”) to Law No. 4 of 2009 on Mineral and Coal Mining (“Law 4/2009”) will soon be ratified.
The Director-General of Mineral and Coal (Director-General) Tri Winarno stated that the drafting process is nearly complete and is currently undergoing the initiative permit process with the President.
“It has reached the initiative permit stage,” Tri told Hukumonline.
According to him, there will only be one Regulation as a derivative of the latest Law 4/2009, although he did not specify the details of what will be regulated in the Regulation. Tri assured that he will accommodate all the mandates stipulated in the law.
