Food Law Revision Plans to Strengthen the Supply Chain.

The DPR Expertise Agency presented plans to amend Law No. 18 of 2012 on Food (“ Law 18/2012 ”). One of the ideas is to strengthen the supply chain, including institutional synergy and efforts to ensure food security.

“The supply chain—from farmers, traders, and others, all the way to consumers—needs to be strengthened,” said Inosentius Samsul, Head of the DPR Expertise Agency, to Hukumonline.

The Chairperson of Commission IV of the DPR, Siti Hediati Hariyadi, said that food self-sufficiency, fertilizer distribution, agricultural counseling, rice and grain procurement, as well as the function of the Logistics Business Agency, are also areas that need to be strengthened.

“If possible, the function of the Logistics Business Agency should be restored to its former success,” said Siti.
