The Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (“Ministry of PPN/Bappenas”) is encouraging the alignment of policy directions and sharia economic indicators from the National Medium-Term Development Plan (“RPJMN”) into the Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (“RPJMD”) for the 2025–2029.
“For the first time in this planning, the sharia economy in the RPJMN is being integrated into the regional medium-term development plans," said Vivi Yulaswati, Deputy for Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation at the Ministry of PPN/Bappenas.
Vivi explained that to align with the RPJMN, the policy direction and indicators for strengthening the sharia economy shall be focused on three main indicators: 1) Strengthening industry, Micro-, Small-, and Medium-scale Enterprises (“MSME”), exports, and the halal ecosystem, with the indicator being the number of halal-certified products; 2) Strengthening sharia finance, with the indicator being the assets of sharia banking; and 3) Strengthening sharia social funds through the National Zakat Index indicator.
