The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (“ESDM”) dan and the Ministry of Finance (“MoF”) are preparing the legal basis for the proposed implementation of export duties on coal and gold.
Deputy Minister of ESDM Yuliot Tanjung confirmed that he is continuing to communicate with the MoF on the policy, which is set to be implemented next year.
“So the Ministry of ESDM and the Ministry of Finance are coordinating,” said Yuliot.
In order for it to be implemented in 2026, Yuliot explained that a number of changes need to be made to the relevant Government Regulations (“Regulation”). In coordination with the MoF, the Ministry of ESDM, according to him, has submitted input on the changes to the regulations.
“That requires changing the Regulation. So, to change the Regulation because there is an export duty, it must be determined or proposed by the Ministry of Finance,” he said.
