The process of discussing the draft amendment to Law No. 8 of 1999 on Consumer Protection (CP Draft Bill) has been taken over by the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) into an initiative. The Director-General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order (Director-General) of the Ministry of Trade (Ministry) Moga Simatupang admitted that he had held discussions with the DPR RI Expert Committee on the discussion of the Draft Bill.
“Because it has been included in the national legislation program, we have held several discussions with the DPR expert committee,” Moga told Hukumonline.
Moga explained that the government had actually completed the Draft Bill before it was taken over by the DPR for discussion. Regarding its progress, Moga said it is not impossible that the discussion of the CP Draft Bill will take place during the third session of the DPR RI this year.
“We are waiting for an invitation from the DPR,” Moga concluded.
