Government Discusses Draft Government Regulation on Water Resources

The Draft Government Regulation on Water Resources is currently being discussed. This regulation is intended to implement Article 23 of Law No. 17 of 2019 concerning Water Resources ("Water Resources Law" or "Draft Regulation").

Unan Pribadi, Director of Legislative Harmonization III, mentioned the key issues being discussed in the harmonization process, including water sources, rivers, river management, lake management, reservoirs, swamps, springs, and groundwater management.

He provided an example regarding river management, which includes conservation, utilization, and control of the destructive power of rivers. The management process involves planning programs and activities, implementing infrastructure and non-construction projects, maintaining rivers and their infrastructure, as well as monitoring and evaluation.
