Government Drafts Perpres on the Financing Scheme for the High-Speed Railway Project

The Government is currently formulating a Draft Regulation of the President on the National Committee for High-Speed Railway Project. Through this regulation, the financing scheme for the high-speed railway project may be subject to change.

"Together with the Ministry of Finance, we are still working on determining the appropriate financing structure. We are currently in the process of gathering relevant data," said Hermin Esti, Assistant Deputy for Land Connectivity and Railways.

The financing of the high-speed railway project is expected not to place an excessive burden on the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (“ APBN ”). Accordingly, the financing scheme is being discussed intensively with the relevant ministries, government agencies, and state-owned enterprises.

Esti explained that the National Committee to be established will be tasked with resolving strategic issues, including assuming the functions of the Jakarta–Bandung High-Speed Railway Committee.
