The Ministry of Trade ("Kemendag") is discussing the Draft Ministerial Regulation on Procedures for Organizing International Trade Promotion ("Draft Permendag"). According to Trade Minister Budi Santoso, this draft aims to make international export exhibitions more productive.
“We no longer want our Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises ("MSMEs"), particularly those participating in exhibitions abroad, to return empty-handed or fail to meet buyers,” Budi stated at the Ministry of Trade.
The Draft Permendag, Budi noted, contains at least five key regulatory points: Kemendag as the coordinator, reporting mechanisms for planning and execution, coordination with Kemendag, technical requirements for minimum exhibition space, and booth design and trade mission implementation guidelines.
Regarding the regulation's status and completion target, Head of the Legal Bureau of Kemendag, Rifah Ariny, explained that further discussions among policymakers are still pending. According to her, no target timeline has been set, as the Draft Permendag was previously excluded from the 2024 Regulatory Planning Program.
