The government is encouraging regulators to initiate a revision of Regulation of the Government No. 36 of 2024 (“Regulation 36/2024”) on the Types and Tariffs of Types of Non-Tax State Revenue (Penerimaan Negara Bukan Pajak – “PNBP”) Applicable to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (“Ministry”).

The revenue comes from forest area release fees. “We have to push for that, but the approval of said PNBP types involves the House of Representatives, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Law and others,” said Ade Triaji Kusumah, Director-General of Forestry Planology of the Ministry of Forestry, to Hukumonline.

Ade stated that under the previous Regulation of the Government, the release of forest areas was valued at only Rp. 2,700,000 per hectare, whereas in the latest version, the amount ranges from Rp. 13,000,000 to Rp. 80,000,000 per hectare for secondary forests. “I hope that the PNBP from forest release, if implemented, could reach Rp. 2,000,000,000 per hectare,” said Ade.
