The government is opening up the possibility of evaluating restrictions on freight transport during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr exodus and return. The changes will be outlined in a circular amending the Joint Decree.
“If there are changes, the changes that occur will be announced. For example, during the recent Christmas and New Year holidays, there was a two-day window period without restrictions. That window period will no longer apply,” said Director of Road Transportation Muiz Thohir to Hukumonline.
The evaluation of these restriction policies will be conducted on a regular basis. The implementation of restrictions applies to freight vehicles in accordance with the classifications and provisions regulated in SKB No. KP-DRJD 854 of 2026; HK.201/1/21/DJPL/2026; Kep/43/II/2026; 20/KPTS/Db/2026 on Road Traffic and Crossing Regulations During the 2026/1447 Hijri Eid Al-Fitr Transport Exodus and Return Period (“Joint Decree 2026”).
The consideration for evaluating this freight transport restriction policy is based on the appeal to implement work from other locations or Work From Anywhere (“WFA”), which is predicted to change travel patterns during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr period. Logistics operators and freight transport business actors are urged to adjust their travel plans, utilize supply chain management, and optimize distribution schedules if restrictions are imposed.
