Government Prepares National Sistranas Draft Bill

The government is preparing Draft Bill on National Sistranas (Sistem Transportasi Nasional- “ Sistranas ”) (“ Draft Bill ”). The regulation is designed to integrate transportation system planning and management.

“Everything will be well-integrated to avoid overlap,” said Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono to Hukumonline. The draft will not only cover intermodal transportation but also connectivity and accessibility across regions.

This regulation is expected to reduce barriers to the movement of goods and people, thereby impacting national economic growth. The regulation will govern every aspect of sea, air, and land transportation. For land transportation, the government will design a network of roads (highways, toll roads) and railways.

“For railways, we will build lines in Sumatra and other (regions),” said a source.
