The Ministry of Forestry is preparing two regulations that are focused on forestry supervision and administrative sanctions. The aim is to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency in handling forestry-related cases.
The first draft regulation addresses the Implementation of Forestry Supervision. “It covers procedures for supervision, forestry licensing, and the Approval for the Use of Forest Areas for mining, non-mining activities, and industrial forest plantations,” said Eko Novi, Head of the Sub-Directorate of Forestry Supervision and Administrative Sanctions Imposition of the Ministry of Forestry, in a statement to Hukumonline.
The second draft regulation addresses the Imposition of Administrative Sanctions in the Forestry Sector. The proposed forms of sanctions include written warnings, government coercive measures, license suspension, and license revocation.
Eko stated that the target for completing the discussion is within this year, although the exact issuance date of the regulation has yet to be confirmed. “What’s clear is it will be issued this year. It will take the form of a ministerial regulation,” he said.
