Government Prepares Regulation of the Minister on Biodiversity

The government will prepare regulations for the implementation of Strategi dan Rencana Aksi Pengelolaan Keanekaragaman Hayati Indonesia /Indonesian Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (“IBSAP”) 2025-2045.

“Ministerial regulations need to be drafted for the implementation. For example, (regulations) on strengthening the Clearing House,” said Sigit Reliantoro, Deputy for Environmental Management and Sustainable Natural Resources at the Ministry of Environment, to Hukumonline.

Strategic indicators for the Clearing House include the number of dashboards monitoring progress toward national biodiversity management targets and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM-GBF), the number of regulations related to the Clearing House, and the number of visits to the Clearing House website.

This IBSAP document is integrated with the National Long-Term Development Plan (Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Panjang Nasional - “RPJPN”) 2025-2045 and the National Medium-Term Development Plan (Rencana Pembangunan Jangka Menengah Nasional/RPJMN) 2025-2029. The government has made biodiversity a key asset for sustainable development in the transition to a green economy to realize Indonesia’s vision for 2045.
