Government to Immediately Draft National Energy Plan

The preparation of the Draft Regulation of the Government on National Energy Policy (RPP KEN) is currently awaiting approval by President Prabowo. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is currently preparing the drafting of the National Energy Master Plan (Rencana Umum Energi Nasional/RUEN). Musri, a member of the National Energy Council (Dewan Energi Nasional/DEN) Stakeholders, explained that the RUEN is being established as the implementing regulation for the new RPP KEN.

“So, for the RUEN, the minister will form a team, establish a team. After reviewing the new KEN, the minister will form a team to draft the RUEN,” Musri told Hukumonline.

According to Musri, the review and approval process for the RUEN will be conducted by the DEN. Additionally, the draft Regional Energy Master Plan (Rencana Umum Energi Daerah/RUED), which is a derivative of the RUEN, has been completed by nearly all provinces in Indonesia.

Unlike previously, which was drafted in accordance with the PP KEN period, Musri explained that the RUEN in the new KEN RPP will be drafted for a period of every 10 years until 2060, in accordance with the mandate of Regulation of the President No. 73 of 2023 on Procedures for Drafting the RUEN and RUED (“Regulation 73/2023”).
