The government is discussing revisions to Regulation of the Minister of Environment No. 4 of 2013 on Guidelines for Environmental Dispute Resolution (“Regulation 4/2013”). The aim is to improve the process of dispute resolution between communities, business actors, and individuals.
“The revision concerns nomenclature, methods and patterns of resolution (of disputes), and the relationship between regional and central government,” said Dodi Kurniawan, Director of Environmental Dispute Resolution of the Ministry of Environment, to Hukumonline.
The draft will also include a clause on the time limit for the resolution of problems. “Previously, there was no time limit, but now there will be one. So there will be an effort to speed up the process,” continued Dodi.
