The commission sharing scheme between online motorcycle taxi drivers (“Ojol”) and app operators is being considered for removal. This regulation is currently being discussed in the Online Transportation Draft Bill.
“The system will no longer use commissions, but fixed fees and subscription fees,” said Adian Napitupulu, a member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives (“DPR RI”).
At the same time, the Online Transportation Draft Bill is still needed as a long-term legal framework. The government itself plans to issue a Regulation of the President (“Regulation”) on ojol this year.
“This Regulation is temporary until the online transportation law is issued,” said Adian.
