One of the proposals put forward by members of parliament for the amendment to Law No. 16 of 1997 on Statistics is data security.

“If data has been copied, the Central Statistics Agency must have secure facilities. That data must indeed be used solely for statistical purposes, not for other interests,” said Sofwan Dedy Ardyanto, a member of the House of Representatives’ Legislative Body, to Hukumonline.

This is important because the authority of the Central Statistics Agency will be greater. Therefore, competent database management is needed.

“Because the Central Statistics Agency is not designed as an institution with the capability to secure data like the National Cyber and Cryptography Agency or the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs,” Sofwan added.
