Identification of Authority of UMKM Protection Task Force for Regulation of the Minister

The government plans to establish a Task Force (Satuan Tugas– “ Satgas ”) for the Protection of UMKM as part of the mandate of Regulation of the Government No. 7 of 2021 (“ Regulation 7/2021 ”) on the Ease, Protection, and Empowerment of Cooperatives and Micro-, Small-, and Medium-scale Enterprises (Usaha Mikro, Kecil dan Menengah– “ UMKM ”). This Satgas aims to follow up on various issues in the implementation of the regulation.

The Deputy for Medium-scale Enterprises of the Ministry of UMKM, Bagus Rachman, stated that the details of duties and authority of Satgas are still under discussion. The provisions will later be set forth in a Regulation of the Minister of UMKM.

“The details have not been discussed yet, as they will later be set out in a Regulation of the Minister of UMKM. The Satgas is part of the mandate of Regulation 7/2021 on the obligations of relevant parties toward UMKM,” Bagus explained to Hukumonline.

In addition to carrying out the mandate of Regulation 7/2021, Bagus did not rule out the possibility that the Satgas will also support the development of additional policies related to the development of UMKM sector.

“Other policies/regulations to support UMKM development will certainly be created as well,” he added.
