Implementing Regulations of DKJ Law, Government Reviews WPPMU

The government is preparing derivative regulations of Law No. 2 of 2024 on the Special Region of Jakarta Province, as amended by Law No. 151 of 2024 (collectively referred to as “UU 2/2024”). One aspect of the regulatory study is the Air Quality Protection and Management Area (Wilayah Perlindungan dan Pengelolaan Mutu Udara – “WPPMU”).

“We will create a WPPMU. It will later become a reference for all regional governments, including the Special Region of Jakarta,” said Director of Air Quality Protection and Management of the Ministry of Environment Edward Nixon Pakpahan to Hukumonline.

When the study is complete, the regional government will create regulations or policies regarding air quality management in its region by synergizing with the WPPMU.

“Therefore, a technical study is needed first to map the condition of the region and the steps to implement the regulations,” he continued.
