Increase in Contributions Under Regulation of the President on Health Insurance

Regulation of the President Number 59 of 2024 on Third Amendment to Regulation of the President Number 82 of 2018 on Health Insurance ("Pepres 59/2024") may potentially be amended. The government aims to complete the discussion before 1 July 2025.

Member of the National Social Security Council (Dewan Jaminan Sosial Nasional - “DJSN”), Muttaqien, stated that there are four updates. He has not been able to ascertain whether new regulations will be introduced or existing regulations will be revised. "Regarding benefits, tariffs, contributions, and governance (health insurance), we are still discussing it, "Muttaqien told Hukumonline.

Regarding the points of increase in contributions, DJSN conducted an analysis using data-based actuarial modeling, optimal benefits for participants, participants' ability to pay, objectives community education, and risk mitigation.

As of now, DJSN is still reviewing the health insurance contribution formula and calculating contribution projections. Meanwhile, the finalization of the calculation for benefits, tariffs, and contributions is expected to be completed this month.
