The Ministry of Environment is trying to reduce the level of air pollution in Jakarta and its surroundings through the preparation of regulations.
"We have submitted the Initiative Permit to the President to give us the authority to prepare a Regulation of the President related to handling air pollution in the Jabodetabek agglomeration. This involves all systems," said Minister of Environment, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq.
In addition to regulations, the ministry will also ask the Jakarta Government to electrify public transportation, review incentive and disincentive policies for private transportation, and convert Fuel Oil (BBM) to Euro 4 Standard to reduce pollution.
In the long term, all factory boilers can be immediately converted to use gas as a more environmentally friendly fuel. "The fuel is changing from coal to gas, it also requires a lot of policies," he said.
