Jakarta Protocol Roadmap Included in the Draft Bill on Copyright

Draft Bill No. 28 of 2014 (“ Law 28/2014 ”) on Copyright (“ Draft Bill on Copyright ”) is targeted for completion next year. One of the provisions to be included in the Draft Bill on Copyright is the Jakarta Protocol Roadmap as part of efforts to strengthen Intellectual Property governance.

“The Jakarta Protocol Roadmap will be incorporated into the Draft Bill on Copyright. Therefore, it is currently being regulated and harmonized,” said Bob Hasan, Chair of the Legislative Body (“ Baleg ”) of Indonesia’s House of Representatives (“ DPR RI ”), to Hukumonline.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Law is finalizing the Jakarta Protocol Roadmap. The roadmap is primarily focused on addressing gaps in international regulations regarding the synchronization of audiovisual and digital music rights, particularly in resolving royalty distribution imbalances between creators and creative industry actors.
