The Ministry for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) is preparing several supporting regulations following the amendment of Law No. 18 of 2017 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (“RUU P2MI”). Wahyudi Putra, Head of Legal Bureau at KemenP2MI, revealed that the regulatory simplification for migrant workers is being prepared for early 2025.
"Since it has become a Ministry, several regulations need to be simplified. This includes new tasks and functions that are now under P2MI's authority and must be expedited to avoid legal gaps for migrant workers," Wahyudi told Hukumonline.
P2MI is currently coordinating with the Ministry of Law to issue Government Regulations (PP) as complementary rules for RUU P2MI.
"The kick-off has been done, and it is currently in the harmonization process at the Ministry of Law, awaiting finalization," he added.
