Statistics Indonesia (Badan Pusat Statistik–“ BPS ”) is currently revising BPS Regulation No. 2 of 2020 on the Standard Classification of Indonesian Business Fields (Klasifikasi Baku Lapangan Usaha Indonesia– “ KBLI ”) (“ PerBPS 2/2020 ”). The Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, confirmed that the revision process is underway.
“The amendment of the KBLI is currently under discussion,” Amalia told Hukumonline.
Amalia further explained that the key point of the amendment is to refine the KBLI. According to her, improvements are necessary in order to keep pace with the development of new economic activities.
The amendment to regulation includes the incorporation of new business activity classifications, the evaluation of existing classifications, the establishment of a more comprehensive and complete reference framework for business fields, and alignment with the fifth revision of the International Standard Industrial Classification of All Economic Activities (“ ISIC ”).
Meanwhile, enhancements shall be made in several areas, including the addition of new codes, changes to titles, changes to descriptions, reclassification of codes, and recoding.
“It needs to be revised due to the growing number of new types of economic activities, many of which are not yet captured in the existing KBLI,” she concluded.
